About Aarohavaroh
Our Mission
Our mission is to make learning Hindustani Classical Music easier, more accessible, and more convenient for every aspiring student.
Our learning platform provides a structured introduction to the characteristics of different ragas, lessons on various types of bandishes, and example expansions of ragas. These resources are designed especially to help beginners develop a strong foundation and gradually build confidence in their musical journey.
Learn, Practise, and Test Yourself
Each bandish is presented in three different modes, allowing students to progress from learning to independent performance:
- Learning ModeA Guru demonstrates the bandish, providing students with a clear model to follow and learn from.
- Practice ModeStudents practise along with a lead instrumental accompaniment, helping them develop rhythm, melody, and confidence.
- Testing ModeStudents perform with only the basic accompaniment of tanpura, swarmandal, and tabla. This allows them to test themselves and assess how well they have absorbed and practised the material.
With sufficient practice across all three modes, students can gradually gain the confidence and ability to perform the bandishes with live instrumental accompaniment.
A Useful Resource for Teachers and Students
The video-based lessons are not only valuable for students but can also serve as a useful resource for teachers. Teachers can use them to revise their own understanding, prepare lessons, or guide their students towards more effective learning and practice.
All supporting learning material is provided in PDF format, giving students convenient access to notation and reference material whenever they need it.
Most importantly, students can begin their musical journey without having to invest in expensive musical instruments. The carefully designed learning and practice modes provide an accessible way to start learning, practising, and developing musical confidence before progressing to live instrumental accompaniment.
Our aim is simple: to make the rich tradition of Hindustani Classical Music easier to learn, practise, understand, and enjoy.
